Safegate was founded 1973, in Malmö, Sweden, as a developer of Passenger Boarding Bridges. Soon we realised that our strength was the Docking Guidance System (DGS) that we supplied together with the bridges.
As air traffic increased, so did the requirements for safer and more effective movements on the ground. To meet the new demands Safegate started to develop a control system, the Airfield Smart Power System (ASP), in the late eighties. The specific aim of the ASP System was to enable selective taxiway guidance from runway to stand and vice versa.
With the introduction of the ASP in the early nineties Safegate was the first company that could offer a complete system for guidance of an aircraft from the touch down to its stop position at the boarding bridge...
